Quick drive and camp at Big Bear

BigBear-9It’s winter time. But here in California, it can still be a hoodie and jeans type of weather. That’s why I thought of going to Big Bear for an overnight camping trip.

It’s about 2.5 hours from home. Less than an hour of it is driving the windy road. Checking the weather forecast a day before says it’s going to be in the mid 50’s during the day and high 20’s during the night. Yes it’s really cold for a person living in City of Los Angeles. But the good thing is, there is no rain or snow. Wind is mild and the sun is out.

We went straight to Thelma’s Restaurant as we try to do whenever we’re there. Check in is still at 2pm, so arriving around lunch time is just perfect to have their great food. Arriving at the site, we immediately set up camp and went to the lake, which is about a 10 minute walk.

Hanging out by the lake and watching the sun sets is really calming. We stayed there for an hour or two then head back as it’s getting dark.

As the temperature drops, I started lighting the fire pit then prepared dinner. S’mores after that of course.

I decided to just bring an easy breakfast. Cup noodles and some left over hot dogs.

A little rest after breakfast and it’s time to pack our things and head on home…
